My Thoughts:
This is a really interesting book that covers the incredible athlete Aaron Hernandez and his rise and fall of fame.
I think Aaron was an interesting person, to me, he clearly needed help and wasn’t fully mentally stable and a lot of what happened could have been prevented if he had received the help he needed.
I was kind of aware of the murders Hernandez was implicated in but I had no idea of the details. I know that he was found innocent in a couple of the murders but to me, it seems like he did it and I have no doubt in my mind that he did it, but I still feel like there were mitigating circumstances, for example when they examined his brain and they found the worst case of CTE doctors had ever seen.
This book really does highlight how athletes and celebrities can pretty much get away with anything they want. Things can be covered up and hidden and they can be protected. Which I find absolutely disgusting.
I’m not sure if it’s the way it was written or the way it was narrated but the book did feel like a piece of fiction at some points to me, and I had to keep reminding myself that this was real life.
