The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue – V.E. Schwab

***Spoiler Alert***

Blurb:
A Life No One Will Remember. A Story You Will Never Forget.

France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.

Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.

But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name.

My Thoughts:
I really wasn’t sure what to expect from this book when I started listening to it, but I ended up really liking Addie.

In this book, we follow Addie, who was born in 1690 in France. The day before her wedding she makes a deal with the Shadow (who she comes to call Luke) so that she could be free and live her life as she wanted, what she didn’t expect was to be forgotten by everyone as soon as they walked away from her, until one day she comes across Henry who remembers her.

We find out more about Addie’s life through flashbacks and learn of the relationship between her and the Shadow as 300 years pass and they get closer.

To be honest, I was expecting a different ending, I was expecting more of a love story between her and Luke. I’m not sure if he was in love with her or he just enjoyed her company, I think there is a difference between love and loneliness. Honestly, I wanted something more than the ending gave but I also like the way it ended. It was open.
