#20BooksofSummer Reading Challenge

Ok, so I found out about 746 Books’ 20 books of summer challenge and I so want to be apart of it.

I have decided to go for the option of 10 books this summer and fingers crossed I will succeed! This challege runs from the 3rd of June until the 3rd of September!

I can’t wait to start! So here are my 10 TBR books for the summer:

  1. The Shining by Stephen King
I’ve only ever read one Stephen King book before called The Running Man, and this is of course a classic so I’m really looking forward to it!

2. I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith

I absolutely adore this book cover. I think it’s so beautiful. This book was originally published in 1948 by Smith who had already made a name for herself as a writer. She is also the author of 101 Dalmations.

3. An African Love Story by Daphne Sheldrick

This book is all about romance and saving elephants from poachers. This really stood out to me when I first got it because I wanted to read about someone who was saving animals. It also sparks my travellers instincts. I love to read and travel!

4. Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

I bought this book soon after I had finished the Passage trilogy because I had heard that it is similar. I absolutely adored the passage I thought it was incredible so I think it’s about time that I read this one.

5. 1984 by George Orwell

I bought this book a couple of years ago when it became really relavant but I never got around to starting it. Now is the perfect opportunity!

6. If She Did It by Jessica Treadway

Now if you know me at all, you know that I love a good crime thriller, and this sounds absolutely perfect for me! I’m really hoping for a lot of twists and turns and for it to be really fast passed.

7. Life After Life by Kate Atkinson

I’ve never read a Kate Atkinson book before and I always felt like I should. I started seeing this book everywhere I went so one day I decided to just go for it and buy it.

8. D-Day Diary by Carol Harris

I personally think it is so important to learn about our history and more importantly learn from it. The reason I got this book is because I don’t know much about D-Day apart from Band of Brothers.

9. Apartment 16 by Adam Nevill

This book is a horror. I honestly love a good scare in a book because it really gets my heart beating so fast and I forget that I’m reading, I feel that I am actually in the situations and they are happening to me! I can’t wait to read this one.

10. Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher

This is the story of a 15 year old girl who hides her identity and the story is told by leters which are sent to a death row inmate. I have also had this book for a while and never got around to reading but this is what the reading challenge is all about so here we go!

  1. Good luck… you’ve given me some.book inspiration for my next reads. If you need another I’ve just finished Queenie – which I throughly enjoyed.

  2. What a great list! The Shining is fun (and scary). I Capture the Castle is one of my favorite books, and Life After Life is stunning (A God in Ruins is even better), but it’s very different from her usual thing. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on those. Good luck with the challenge!

  3. I love the mix of books you have listed, it gives me some new ones to look for to add to my own! You drew me in immediately with The Shining – it’s my favorite Stephen King! Just be warned, it’s NOTHING like the movie 😉

    1. I think I’m going to have to read it first and then watch the movie and compare notes! I’ve only read The Running Man by Stephen King so I’m looking forward to reading this one!!
