We start the book with Matt, who was in a car crash two months earlier and can’t remember anything before the crash. He is in a house in the middle of Wales with a woman calling herself his sister and a man who is Matts carer.

Slowly, slowly he starts to realise that something is wrong and he starts to get his memories back.

Tina Boyd is no longer a police detective she has started her own business as a private investigator. She receives a call from someone saying that he might know what happened to a woman who Tina is currently looking for.

I must say that the first 100-150 pages were amazing. I was so excited when the first twist came around. But after that I felt like this book wasn’t to the same standard as the other Simon Kernick books that I have read.

The fact that Matt kept repeating the same line over and over again to Tina was so repetative. He just came across as manipulative and I really found it hard to warm up to him.

I still enjoyed this book but I feel that it was just a bit too convaluted and a bit unrealistic when all of Kernicks other books feels like the situations could actually happen.

I do think that this should be read but possibly not after you have just read one, if that makes sense?

I do think that because I have read so many of Kernicks books I have certain expectations from his writing and I don’t think that this book met my personal expectations.
